Paypal or checks? Which is the better way to go? 6 Months ago
I noticed that some survey sites pay by paypal. Having never used it, I'm unsure of the benefits. I recently got a whopping $3.00 check from Pinecone - the one and only survey I've ever received from them - and I feel stupid taking this to the bank. I wondered if paypal is a better way to go. Then I could withdraw it from paypal or use my paypal account when I purchase online instead of the credit cards I usually use. I also thought that I could use it for the other survey sites that pay by paypal. That way I could have more of a lump sum.

Any opinions or thoughts?

Sorry about another stupid question.

best,
anne

Hi anne,

Not a "stupid" questions.

If the survey site offer Paypal option, I go for it. Since I don't like going to bank to deposit checks either!!

I like Paypal since it is faster, and of course it's free. I usually received $$ from Pinecone the next business day after completing a survey!

Regarding Paypal, I don't have any experience shopping with its credit/debit cards..I just withdraw the money to my bank accounts. I always shop with my credit card since I earn rewards from it.

Hope it helps!

Okay, I am a true potato head. I signed up with paypal and then went to pinecone to ask that payments be sent there. I've read their directions four times and still can't figure it out. I've also searched paypal until I'm blue.

It says "update your PineCone Research personal profile with your Paypal account email address". What Paypal email address? Just the email address I signed up with?

Sorry to be a bother.

Oh, I've got a new way to note when I found a paid survey that I didn't get an invite for. I send an email to myself with the date/survey site/dollar amount/and what the survey was about. I've also started using the gmail calendar and post every survey that involved payment or points. Just wish I started doing that 6 weeks ago. igh:

best,
anne

Hi anne,

Yes, you can use the email you used when you sign up with Paypal. In fact, you can have upto 6 (or 7?) emails associated with your Paypal account, and you can assign one of them as primary email address (the one you use when you login into your paypal account)

Glad you find a good way to organize and keep track of surveys. Just a reminder: whatever you do, make sure save the survey invite emails (as proof) in case there is something wrong..

Thanks!

I'll notify pinecone.

Thank you for the tip to save the email invites. Unfortunately, I didn't do that in the beginning and deleted quite a few. Oops. I am doing it now.

I've found quite a few - in fact a $5 last night - just by visiting the site. I never got an invite. So, I emailed myself and marked it so that I can remember to check to see if I get credited.

best,
anne

PayPal is excellent - aside from getting paid from survey sites like Pinecone, you can send and receive money from anyone else with a PayPal acct. - and unlike EFT, the money is transferred almost instantly......plus, with the little PayPal plug-in you can create virtual one-time use Mastercard CC's, very handy for buying online...
