Just wondering if anyone is doing or has done the Homescan thing for Nielsen. I've heard mixed reviews about the scanner not working but I'd like to know if others have had a good experience as I was invited to participate.

I was with them for a while - couldn't remember how long but I was able to accumulate enough points to redeem a nice baking dish set.

It was tedious, and lot of work if you shop a lot at Walmart. For most the stores, the scanner can read price automatically, but not for Walmart - you have to enter price for every item you buy manually!

I didn't encounter any problems with the scanner scanning, just a couple of times had problem transferring the data (I used telephone to do the transfer), and had to keep trying until it went through.

After I while I had enough and returned everything. But I do like that they have mail and online surveys that were very easy to do.

Overall I think it's a okay program. I think it's a pretty good gig for a 13+ years old.

Thanks mlynn, that answers my question and is typical of some of the things I've heard. I do about 60% of my shopping at my local SuperWalmart so this would be a hassle.

My wife and I did it 5 yrs ago, for less than a yr. It was to much work and tedious.
